Do not trim the nails too short. Cutting into the living tissue of the nail will cause pain and excessive bleeding.
How to safely trim nails:
If your pet has light-colored nails, you will easily notice the matrix forming a pale pink line. Trim the tips of the nails at least 2mm away from the matrix line. For animals with dark nails, finding the matrix is not so simple. Trim the nail only slightly. Pay attention to the dark spot in the middle of the freshly trimmed nail - if you see it, the matrix starts just behind it. Do not cut more. Always cut downwards from the top, holding the clippers perpendicular to the nail. Avoid cutting the nails at an angle!
